Through 3 preseason games, the Titans 1st team offense has rolled up an impressive 0, none, nada, zilch touchdowns and two field goals in 12 series. And in the two most recent games, the starting offense has managed just 15 first downs in 11 possessions. Vince Young, his numbers read like a rookie starting his first NFL game, not a guy going into his 3rd season, 2nd as a starter. Against the Rams he was 3 for 6 for 17 yds and 1 rush for 35 yards, he didn't need to have great passing numbers, the Titans running game torched the Rams for over 300 yards. Against the Raiders 4 for 13 for 37 yards with one rush for 4 yards. The defense scored one TD in that game and forced a Raiders fumble on the Titans 2 yard line to stop a Raiders TD or FG. Against the Falcons 9 for 18 for 102 with one interception in the first half. That totals up to 16 for 37 for 145. Coaches are telling fans there is nothing to panic about, it's only the preseason, we have time to work this out, we'll be fine.
"As far as our staff is concerned, there is no reason to be alarmed. We are going to keep working and keep improving and touchdowns will come,'' Fisher said Saturday,"We have time, and this is the preseason. There is no panic here. The players are not concerned. They have confidence in themselves and their abilities in each other, and we'll take advantage of the little time we have left to be ready for the opener."
Maybe the Titans were playing teams with good defenses? Nope, most teams play a vanilla defense that good staring QBs can recognize in the preseason and they were playing the Rams, Raiders and Falcons, teams that were a combined 11-37 last season.

Fisher also claims that the Titans aren't showing all the things the offense can do and that the coaches have not been game planning as they would for a regular season game. Fine coach, but shouldn't VY be completing at more than 43%? Shouldn't the WRs and VY be on the same page when running their routes? That's what the OTAs, training camp and the preseason are for, to work on these things and look like a team that has practiced. Bottom line, the Titans will be the same team they always are under Fisher, they will play good even great defense, will score FGs and will win a lot of games 16-13, 20-14. How many games? They got alot of breaks last year, Rob Bironas made alot of long FGs, with those kinds of breaks again this year they could be 10-5 maybe 11-5, without them 8-8 or worse.
As Tennessean columnist David Climer wrote:
"Everybody keeps talking about how Young is making the right reads, but the ball is just not getting from Point A to Point B with any regularity.
Look, nobody expects the Titans offense to resemble the Patriots or Colts. The Titans are not wired that way. The scheme is more conservative and the overall talent far less capable. Really, how many Titans receivers would be on the field for those teams?
Right about here, it's fair to wonder if Titans management has put together an offer for Anquan Boldin, the disgruntled Arizona star. Nah. Few franchises devalue the wide receiver position like this one.
The Titans' biggest offseason moves at wideout were to re-sign Justin Gage, reacquire Justin McCareins and draft Lavelle Hawkins in the fourth round. Roydell Williams' lingering ankle problems further undermine the position.
So barring late additions or a dramatic uptick, the Titans must win a lot of low-scoring games to make the playoffs.
And that's no joke."
