Game Day in NashVegas for Vandy-Auburn

In yet another blow to the Big Orange, ESPN's Game Day will be in Nashville for the Vandy-Auburn game on Saturday.

Undefeated and 19th-ranked Vanderbilt, plus once-beaten Auburn ranked 13th following the Tigers' 14-12 win Saturday over visiting Tennessee equals the sports network's first-ever day-long appearance in the Music City this coming weekend. It'll mark the third straight Southeastern Conference destination for GameDay, which originated from Athens, Ga., this past weekend and from Auburn for the Sept. 20 matchup with LSU. Game Day was considering going to Knoxville for the UT-Florida but after the Big Orange lost to UCLA, Game Day said sorry Vols and Gators, we're heading to the Plains for Auburn-LSU.
"They weren't at the top of the list going into the weekend," GameDay senior producer Michael Fountain said. "But with all the upsets, they're in first place (in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division), they're creating some buzz, we haven't been there before. We think they'll be pretty excitable.
"We want to go to, if not the big games, certainly the most intriguing matchups. And (the Commodores) are certainly intriguing."

"This is tremendous for our university, Coach (Bobby) Johnson's program and this great city," Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor David Williams said. "ESPN's decision to bring College GameDay to Vanderbilt speaks volumes about the outstanding job Bobby Johnson has done during his tenure and the student-athletes he has attracted into our football program."We're extremely pleased and excited about this announcement."

So this upside down season continues, UT is 1-3 with little hope of turning things around because of an offense that is terrible and Vandy continues to draw national attention because of their record.
"I think it's great for our university, our fans, and our players and coaches," Johnson said. "It's definitely going to add to the excitement level as we prepare for an important SEC game."

We occasionally allow Yankee riff-raff into our great city.
No tickets for this one, the Auburn fans had bought them up before the season started.
What they and many other SEC teams do, especially the Big Orange, is buy Vandy season tickets. That way they get a great seat for the game. They'll either sell the tickets to the other games or just won't use them. It really pisses the Vandy fans off, but they have no reason to bitch, they don't sell the games out and the athletic dep't is worried because the tickets are getting sold.

Yup, probably with the set inside the stadium and the usual one outside. It's a pretty big deal for a couple of reasons, one it's for a Vandy game, second it's the 3rd week in a row an SEC school has hosted. No idea where they will be next week although LSU at Florida looks pretty good.
