Vikings defensive end Jared Allen is a player who makes an impact from the first snap. Sunday the Vikings play the Titans at LP Field and if the Titans want to go 4-0, they will need to deal with the defensive end from Idaho State. Allen has been a one-man wrecking crew since being drafted by the Chiefs in 2004. He totaled 9 sacks in his rookie season of 2004, 11 in 2005, 7.5 in 2006 and an impressive 15.5 in 2007. Teammates wondered what was the root of his ability, Allen's answer: his mullet. Jared credited his early 2007 season success to his mullet. With every quarterback sack Allen makes, he will shave a "racing stripe" into his hairstyle.
This season, Allen hasn't had his trademark Kentucky Waterfall, his explanation appears in the Pioneer Press,
"Following the Packers game, Allen said there was "something missing." Allen recognized the root of his problem: his hair.
He started to grow his hair out to sport... a mullet?
"The mullet is like the All-American haircut," Allen said. "I realized, why turn against what gave me that mystique?"
Allen said last season that the mullet was a key to his success. At the Pro Bowl in February, the mullet was "in full force."
But Allen dumped the haircut during a vacation to New Zealand with his girlfriend.
'I had a Britney moment overseas," Allen said, referring to pop singer Britney Spears, who famously shaved her head last year.
Since he's only had a few weeks to grow his hair, Allen said he only has a "baby mullet."
"But it's sweet," he said. "I got something to run my fingers through."

You gotta love a guy who'll rock the Tennessee Tophat. Jared Allen; the cowboy salutes you for not being afraid of the haircut that says; "business in the front, party in the back"
Rock the haircut that made Swayze in Roadhouse, Gibson in Lethal Weapon, Sandler in The Wedding Singer. The mullet, the only haircut with its own website.

i like jared allen just not against your titans. titans must win for cowboy to stay happy LOL!
He just became one of my favorite players because of his haircut.
That's absolutely hilarious, and you sure can tell a story!
It'll be an interesting game for the Titans because the Vikings are tough to run on. Then again, the Vikings will have a tough time moving the ball on that Titans defense. I'm expecting a low-scoring game there, but it's not a given especially with the season the way it's gone.
BTW, Cindy recommended that I checked this blog out. And with that, I'll be back!

david, this season, so far, has been INSANE i love it!
DF, glad you like it.
The Vikes and Titans are almost mirror images. They both had young inaccurate QBs that were replaced by veterans who aren't nearly as mistake prone. Yours didn't go crazy and make the national news like ours did, but both their moms spoke up for them. Both like to run first and often but aren't afraid to pass and both have a defense that gets turnsovers and scores.
