A day after the midnight ride of Vince Young, things looked like they might be returning to normal, then his mom talked to The Tennessean and everything blew up again. It also didn't help that she used words like "persecuted" and "ridiculed" to describe his time with the Titans. Then she dropped the bomb;
"But we're not talking about football right now. We're talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing.
"… You don't want people to be hurting like he is. But it is a growing-up process, and he will eventually come out like gold no matter what. But Vince is going to be OK. We are just going to try and give him some space." Most interpret her remark as meaning that he doesn't want to play football anymore. Is that what she meant? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, it's the story being told right now.

Young made a couple of other decisions that have lent support to the idea that Young is not that interested in playing pro football.
First, he skipped a team scheduled MRI on Monday. The Titans asked that he come and have the MRI on Monday to judge the extent of the injury to his left knee. Instead Young hung out with some of his buddies getting free food. When he did come in on Tuesday it was found that Young has a sprained medial collateral ligament, an injury that’s sidelined some players 2-4 weeks, others longer. The earliest Young is likely to return to action is Oct. 19 at Kansas City, but recent events have the Titans considering the possibility of Collins remaining the starter if the team is playing well. The worst possible scenario for Young, if Collins plays well, the fans will be even more down on Young, it will reinforce the perception that the team won in spite of Young not because of him.
Second, he again blew off the media after practice today. In his first public appearance since being carted off LP Field on Sunday afternoon, Young watched practice for about 45 minutes. He was not using crutches, and didn’t appear to have a brace under his long, baggy shorts. He did not speak to reporters and the Titans gave no indication of when he will be made available to the media, although he’s expected to release a statement in the coming days.
One person who is not saying come back now Vince is "Field Goal Fisher" Fisher said today that Young has some things to do and some things to fix before he's ready to be the Titans starting QB again.
"He has some work to do. Obviously he has some work to do,’’ Fisher said. “He has to put some things back in perspective, and first and foremost he has to get healthy.’’
He didn't say if it was physically healthy, mentally healthy or both.
Whatever the problem/problems are with Vince Young right now, one thing is for sure, the Titans, Bud Adams in particular, have way too much money, time and coaches tied up in this guy to do anything rash just yet. There will be no releasing, trading or even benching of Young unless he continues to draw negative attention to the Titans or he isn't helping them win. Young will have to prove that it's him not the WRs or the coaches who can't get it done, until then the Titans will do what they can to make sure he can be an NFL QB.
If Young doesn't have the desire to do whatever he needs to do to be a better NFL QB or he doesn't have the will to play, he needs to save everyone the time and just walk away from the game.
We'll soon know if he's a spoiled brat or a troubled young man or a combo of both.

troubled young man
retire then vince before this gets any more blown out of proportion.
i love how ppl are shitting all over ESPN about this too, UM HELLO, we report the football news folks.
i'm sticking to my guns, i feel for the guy & i think he outta retire with some sort of grace.
What did ESPN do? They didn't do any over reporting of this or blow this out of proportion. He was the rookie of the year 2 years ago, he was the QB of a national champ at Texas. They beat the greatest college team ever, according to ESPN, USC in a great national championship game.
This is not some 2nd or 3rd stringer who suddenly melts down like a 5 year old who didn't get ice cream. His mom was the one who said he wasn't all that interested in football right now.
ESPN overhypes a lot of stories but not this time.
just like every media outlet, we have a habit of taking shit & running with it, which we OVERLY DID WITH FAVRE. now ppl. love to hate on us, which is good, we are doin something right ;0
