After a 5-0 start, Vandy was a media darling, a feel-good story. The smart school was making a name for itself in the best football conference in the country.
(No I don't want to hear anything out of you Big-10 fans, until you can go to the title game and not get your ass kicked again, you have nothing to add to the conversation.)
But after 3 straight losses, including a 10-7 snoozer to Duke, Vandy fans are beginning to wonder is they have seen this movie before. Strong start and then the losing starts and Vandy is once again home for bowl season. This year maybe different, not because this Vandy team is a bunch different but because the SEC has so many bowl tie-ins, nine total. That's not counting the team or teams that make it to BCS bowl games. The SEC could have 11 of the 12 schools going to bowl games if they get two BCS spots, a likely scenario with the way Florida, Georgia, and Alabama are playing right.
All Vandy has to do is get that 6th win. They need to go 1-3 over their final four games against Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wake Forest. The only team on that list who can blow the Dores out is Florida. Vandy can and should beat both Kentucky and Tennessee, the game with Wake is a toss-up. The fact Vandy will probably be favored over the Vols says alot about how bad things are on Rocky Top, Fulmer is talking about getting his team bowl eligible, not about the Eastern Division Championship or an SEC Championship, just bowl eligibility.
