Thanksgiving in Kansas

After spending 4 days in Kansas without cable and internet, several things are clear.

First, you can survive without constant updates and distractions that both the internet and cable tv bring. It's difficult to not check on the games you aren't watching and getting news hours after it happens but it can be done. I just don't want to do it for long.

Second, the national news shows are terrible. If these are your only sources of news you are getting as much perspective as someone in a house with only one window.

Third, even without internet and cable tv, Thanksgiving is the best holiday of the year. Families actually spend time with each other talking and catching up. It's a meal that many families still sit down and eat together and everyone has enough to eat and drink.

Now it's back to work and just 24 days until Christmas.
