Vandy + 6 wins=bowl

The Vanderbilt Commodores are probably heading to a bowl for the first time since 1982 this season. The good news for Vandy is they will probably have their choice of bowls because they are one of 8 bowl eligible teams in the SEC and with up to 10 bowl tie-ins the SEC won't fill their slots. Auburn has to beat Alabama to become bowl-eligible, Arkansas has to beat both Mississippi State and LSU to get to 6 wins. The winner of the SEC Championship will likely go to the national title game and the lose will likely fill another BCS slot. That means the SEC will have 6 teams left to fill 8 slots and Vandy won't have to go to whatever bowl will take

them they can go to one most of their fans will likelt attend.
In the pecking order of bowls, the later the game falls on the calendar, the more prestigious the game.
After the BCS teams are selected, the bowls with SEC tie-ins select the teams they want to invite. The Capital One(Orlando) has the first pick, then the Outback(Tampa), Chick-fil-A(Atlanta), and Cotton(Dallas), bowls have the next three selections in some order. The Liberty(Memphis) and Music City(Nashville) bowls get the next two picks, followed by the Independence(Shreveport) and the PapaJohns.com(Louisville) events.
The Dores aren't likely to wind up in the Music City because Vandy doesn't have a huge national following and most of the fans aren't going to stay in Nashville, eat here and oterwise spend money in Music City. Shreveport sure doesn't excite me or any other Vandy fans and Memphis, probably not, it's too close and let's face it, it's Memphis. (You gotta live here to understand)
Wherever the Dores wind up it'll be a great season, and one that folks will remember, because with Vandy, you never know when they'll go again.
