SI blogger Dave Heuschkel believes the Pats should trade Tom Brady. Why? Because he's 31 and has a bad knee.
His argument;
"Rain or snow, Cassel continues to shine. He has overcome adversity and adverse weather conditions the last two weeks in leading the Patriots to wins that have kept Bill Belichick's team in the playoff hunt.
Cassel has impressed the not-easy-to-impress Belichick. But has he impressed the organization to the point where the Patriots would consider trading Brady?
At 26, Cassel is five years younger than Brady and doesn't have a fragile knee. Those are undeniable facts the Patriots will consider after the season."

"Cassel's numbers in his first season as a starting quarterback are similar to Brady's stats in 2001 when he permanently replaced an injured Drew Bledsoe, who was the face of the franchise.
Cassel has completed 63.8 percent of his passes and thrown for 3,270 yards with 18 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a QB rating of 87.1 In Brady's first season as a starter, he posted a 63.9 completion percentage and threw for 2,843 yards with 18 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and an 86.5 rating."

Here are three reasons to not trade Brady, three Super Bowl wins, an MVP, and, Brady has proven than he can win WRs not named Randy Moss or Wes Welker. Brady and the Patriot offense truly scare opposing defenses. Ask any defensive coordinator who they would rather face and they will all say Cassel. He makes plays but not the plays that Brady does. Cassel has won 10 games and may or may not make the playoffs.
What about the effect on the locker room, Brady is a leader, a guy who has done it all, the only reason the locker room hasn't dissolved is they are winning and the Pats know that Brady will be back in 2009.
Simply put, Tom Brady is one of the best to play the position trading him effects more than just the team on the field, it affects the fanbase. The Patriots fanbase would view it the same as the Red Sox trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees, inexcusable. Brady will be cut or released when he is no longer to the Pats, it won't be for a few more years, he has too much football left in him.
This article belongs on a fan site not the "real media", of course after the way the real media acted in Detroit bloggers aren't such a bad group.

Trade Tom Brady....That could be the dumbest thing I have ever read...and I've read a lot of dumb $h!t...I mean I read the stuff I write...But this guy is unreal.
WOW!!!.
Yep this was mentioned during the game today. All I can say is better get a ton of talent for him if this is true.
Matt's getting the job done, Matt probably will not want to go back to being a back up, if brady ever comes back. i've seen this article floating around for weeks.
trade rumors happen constantly....that's all they are, rumors!
If Matt has any brains he'll stay the backup in NE. IF he thinks he'll be as good somewhere else he's nuts. Just ask Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, David Givens.
I wouldn't even qualify this as a rumor.
LMFAO
what the hell ever!!
have a kicken day cowboy!
I'm on vacation, how could it not be.
"Whatever" and "Seriously" were my thoughts when I read the article
He almost has to leave. He's not going to get the big bucks in NE. As much as I would hate to see him go, I wouldn't fault the guy for getting PAID.
