The Titans have several free-agents to deal with this offseason, most notably Kerry Collins and Albert Haynesworth, and so far things are not encouraging for Titans fans. This year the Titans can't claim they don't have the money, they are roughly $28 million under the cap and have many of their key players signed long term. But two that aren't are making some noise about it.
First Albert Haynesworth said he wouldn't give the Titans a hometown discount and implying that he wants a contract similar to Jared Allen's 6 year $73 million with $31 million guaranteed. Haynesworth has said he would like to stay in Tennessee, it's where his family is and he likes the coaching staff but he has also said that would also be happy in other places in the South. According to today's Nashville City Paper, Haynesworth and the Titans are far apart in terms of the dollar value of a new contract. After the two sides spoke in late January, the Titans have now made an initial offer to Haynesworth, but the sides apparently are not at all close in terms of what each is seeking in a new contract extension for the defensive tackle. This info is from the ever-popular sources close to the situation, probably Haynesworth's agent since the point of the entire article is money and how Haynesworth wants payday.
Now, Kerry Collins is saying the same thing, talks with the Titans aren't going anywhere and he, like Haynesworth, wonders why not.
"There's been nothing substantial,'' Collins said. "There might have been some conversations between my agent and Mike, but nothing to think they are working on anything big.''
"Nothing is clear. I think there is desire on their part to bring me back but a lot depends on what happens with the contract negotiations,'' Collins said.
"I think Jeff wants me back. In no uncertain terms did he say that I definitely was going to be the starter, but the desire to bring me back is there and it just depends on what capacity they want to being me back. A lot of it is going to depend on how they are wanting to treat the negotiations.''
"As far as things with me, I still feel the same way as I did,'' Collins said. "It hasn't changed. I'm at a point in my career where I want to start and personally I hope it works out with the Titans. But I have to be ready to explore other possibilities, too.''
While this is no time to panic, it is getting frustrating that two of the biggest free-agents the Titans have to make a decision on have both said that nothing is happening. The encouraging thing is neither player has given the Titans an ultimatium, they are just trying to move the process along and you can't blame them, job security is not something everyone has, when you have it you want to hold onto it.

No, in fact I have skipped posting some of the stuff floating around about his work habits and attitude. It's a plate of not good.
If they can resign Simms, he and VY will fight it out for 2nd string.
The possibility exists that a year from now we'll be talking about who will pick VY up.
Sorry babe
