Former Rams WR is visiting the Titans. Before anyone gets too excited, let's list the free-agent WRs the Titans have signed since moving from Houston to Nashville.
2009: Nate Washington, we have yet to see how this one goes
2008: Justin McCairens: played one season and was released
2007: Justin Gage: He's been the best of their free-agent signings. He hasn't gotten hurt and has put up decent numbers. In 07 he had 55 for 750 with 2 tds, in 08 he had 34 for 651 with 6 tds.
2006: David Givens: The Titans thought they were getting the WR that helped the Pats win three Super Bowls. Instead, Givens' story is a football trajedy. Givens was injured 5 games into his first season. He they endured three surgeries on his left knee. There was another surgery on his right knee, he was cut by the Tennessee Titans only two seasons into a five-year contract.
2005: Drafted 3 WRs. Courtney Roby, Brandon Jones and Roydell Williams. Only Williams is still with the team.
2000: Carl Pickens: 10 passes for 242 yards in what ended up being his only season as a Titan. A hamstring injury cut Pickens season and the remainder of his career short.
1998: Yancey Thigpen: In 3 seasons he played in 9, 10 and 12 games. He caught 38 for 493 and 3 tds in 98, 38 for 698 and 4 tds in 99 and 15 for 289 and 2 tds in 2000. The Titans were hoping they were getting the 16 game, 1000 yd, Steeler version of Thigpen, they got Mr. IR.
This is not an uncommon trend with teams. Many, many free-agents don't work out with their new teams, it's the exception when a guy works out.
With the Titans track record, and the Jags for that matter, Holt is probably better off somewhere else.
