Kimberly Shanks likes the tv volume low

Kimberly Shanks never said she wasn't a Cowboys fan, she just doesn't like the tv volume too loud, and if you don't believe her, ask her dead husband Charles Shanks.

Shanks said she stabbed him in the heart after he turned up the volume of a Dallas Cowboys game. Shanks admitted to killing her husband at their home in the 1400 block of Lone Star Court on Dec. 14 after he turned up the volume of a Dallas Cowboys game “knowing it would keep her awake."

From the Dallas Morning News:

" Shanks told police she went into the kitchen for medication but grabbed a knife instead and “tried to stick the knife in his heart.”
She ran out of the house but returned with a landscaping rock from a neighbor's yard. She went inside to find her husband on the kitchen floor and she hit him on the back of the head with the rock to make sure he was knocked out. She also stabbed him in the back to make sure he was dead, the newspaper reported. She said she was afraid he would kill her.
Shanks told police the couple started arguing after her husband started drinking and threatened to leave the country and never return. Shanks told police her husband had mentally abused her and that he refused her request for a divorce, the newspaper reported.
Shanks is being held at the Collin County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Mr. Shanks did have something to cheer about, the Cowboys were beating the Giants 20-8 that Sunday, their last win of 2008, and it was the end of a week fighting with each other, the media and with Jerry Jones. Basically the highlight of December for Cowboys' fans.

A recap of that week from ESPN:

"The Cowboys spent more time this week answering questions about their own squabbles than about playing the Giants. It started with Jerry Jones questioning the toughness of running back Marion Barber for missing last week's loss at Pittsburgh because of a dislocated right pinkie toe, and it ended with Newman accusing coaches of not being as accountable for mistakes as they expected players to be.

The main event was talk of Owens being upset about the close relationship between Romo and Witten. There was a confirmed meeting of Owens and two other receivers with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, and reports of a late-week confrontation between Owens and Witten, which the Cowboys deny happened."

I can't believe Jones has the cojones to question Marion Jones's toughness. He's our best offensive option and one of the hardest runners in the league, let him be. Witten and Romo should stay away from all things media. nice work brother
