Saddest 4th of July

After enjoying a wonderful cookout with family and friends I heard about Steve McNair. Details have come fast and furious since his death was first reported.

The strangest detail is this;
At approximately 2 a.m. Saturday morning, McNair was celebrating the holiday weekend at the Blue Moon Restaurant near the John C. Tune Airport. A white woman in her early 20s, around 5-foot-4, approached McNair at the restaurant and accused him of slipping her a “roofie” a year ago.

The woman then told McNair, according to sources, that her boyfriend was going to kill him. It appears that this boyfriend did not kill McNair but it's still a morbid coincidence.

To me, McNair was the Titan that I had more respect for than any other player, he was everything VY isn't; tough, discplined(unlike VY he actually watched tape), a pro. McNair also became a better passer as he got older, he gave up running around all the time, it was just getting him hurt. As Tom Curran of NBC Sports points out; "He was the first black quarterback that a team built itself around and tethered its fortunes to from Day 1. It probably isn’t a coincidence that, once it became clear McNair was the real deal, quarterbacks like Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith, Michael Vick and Vince Young were suddenly top five selections. "
