Titans tackle Albert Haynesworth has enough physical talent to be the dominant defensive tackle in the NFL as he showed in 2007. He feels he deserves the big-money deal because when he's healthy and motivated he dominates games like he did in 2007. Last season, he led a Titans defense that ranked in the top 10, and despite missing 3 games because of a bad hamstring, Haynesworth had 40 tackles and a career high 6 sacks. He was also selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2007, and was 1st team All-Pro in 2007. Coincidently, the Titans lost all three games Haynesworth missed, 28-13 to Jacksonville, Denver 34-20, and 35-6 ass-whipping by Cincinnati in which the Bengals had little trouble moving the ball up and down the field on the Titans. He has become a better player each season he has been in Tennessee, and teamed with Kyle VandenBosch, they make up one of the best D-Lines in the league. With all this going for him, why are the Titans unwilling to give him big-money right now? These are the Titans concerns about Big Al.
He has also shown to be a less than reliable defensive tackle. He started numerous fights with veteran offensive linemen in practice during his rookie season after a lengthy holdout. He has started all 16 games in only one season, his rookie year and started three. Since that season he has played in 12(2003), 10 (04), 14(05), 11(06), and 13. He has a bad habit of picking up dumb penalties, off-sides and personal fouls being his favorites, and then there was the five-game suspension in 2006. Haynesworth stomped on Andre Gurode barehead during a game against the Cowboys in Nashville.

Bottom line, Haynesworth will get the money he deserves when he proves that 2007 wasn't a fluke, or he's not a contract year warrior. Another thing working against Haynesworth, D-Line coach Jim Washburn is one of the best in the business and can make a mediocre player look like a Pro Bowler.

Albert Haynesworth is too risky for a long-term deal, now.
