Why Pacman Jones didn't work out in Tennessee

The answer; Titans management and more specifically, Jeff Fisher. That's right the guy who wanted to draft him, pushed to draft him then had no idea how to handle him once he got to Tennessee is the main reason Pacman didn't work out in Tennessee. Fisher was the one who said he could handle Pacman, who told fans that his off-the-field problems were a thing of the past, the Titans had done their homework on the guy everything would be fine. After his first arrest in July of 2005, Fisher took no action against Jones, a pattern that would repeat itself throughout his career with the Titans. Jones is arrested, Fisher is diappointed in him but neither he nor the club take any action against Jones, they wait for the NFL to do something which does not happen. The Titans waited until November 2006 to finally suspend Pacman, after three arrests, for the Jacksonville game.

Fisher's quote: ""This action is not a result of our belief that he (Jones) was guilty or not guilty as far as the last incident was concerned, but rather it is a result of an accumulation of poor decisions that he's made over his career here," Tennessee Coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday when the suspension was announced.

Way to go coach, way to step up to the plate and nip this in the bud. This was the only action the Titans took against Jones until the NFL stepped in suspended him for the 2007 season. In the end, the Fisher thought his " hands-off" approach to Pacman would work, and when it didn't it was Floyd Reese who took the bullet, Fisher was never called on the carpet for how he handled Pacman and for his role in what happened. Fisher is not solely responsible for what happened with Pacman, Pacman is untimately responsible for his actions, he did little to prevent Pacman from himself.
