This award has been awarded to Brett Favre the past few days/weeks but today we have a new winner: Josh McCown. McCown won the award because he got part of his index finger chopped off by his brother Luke McCown.
The Story:
Josh McCown, the Dolphins’ most-experienced quarterback heading into training camp, injured the index finger in his throwing hand two weeks ago chopping wood. A Texas TV station reports that McCown needed six stitches to the finger a couple of weeks ago when he was injured while he and his brother, Luke, were cutting firewood. Back home in Texas, McCown said he was holding the firewood and his brother, a backup quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, cut his finger instead of the wood.
The worst part is, McCown was the guy who was probably going to be the Dolphins starter but now who knows. The Dolphins may have to turn to John Beck or to rookie Chad Henne, just the news Dolphins fans wanted to hear.
From AOL FAnhouse: "Feedback from a few players is that Josh McCown was the sharpest of the quarterbacks the past month and appears the most ready to play, and strong-armed Chad Henne flashed impressive skills but needs seasoning. Sparano would love for a starter to emerge from among McCown, Henne and John Beck by the third preseason game, ``but I'm not sure that happens.'' "
