It's the WRs not the QB in Tennessee

That's the word from Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger who said;

"I’m really not that worried,” Heimerdinger said of quarterback Vince Young. “If he was going in the wrong spot and not reading the coverages it would be one thing. If his feet were wrong and was off-balance it would be one thing. But I just don’t see those problems right now.“What I’d really like to see is more consistency with the guys surrounding him. And I’d like to see somebody step up and make a play for us.’’

"I’d like to see guys get in the right spots so Vince knows where they’re going to be. If we’re not in the right spots, we’re not doing the right things, we’re not separating, it’s awful hard to look good throwing,” Heimerdinger said.“I know everybody is like ‘It’s on Vince, it’s on Vince, it’s on Vince.’ Well, somebody has to also get some separation out there and get in the right spot. We need 11 on the same page and we’re all taking turns screwing up.’’

That has been one company line all preseason, we need our WRs to get seperation, to make a catch or two. They have been inconsistent but so has VY. It's hard to catch a pass that's skipping off the turf, sailing over your head or three+ yards behind you. The other line the Titans coaching staff has been spinning is that they aren't game-planning like they would for a regular season game. The coaches, especially Field Goal Fisher has claimed the offense game plan is very vanilla and they aren't showing anything for the Colts, Jags, Texans and everyone else on the schedule. That sounds good but still does not explain running wrong routes, throwing the ball all over the field, dropping balls, just plain looking out-of-sync, like it's the first day of OTAs and not the final preseason game. There seems to be no chemistry and more importantly, little trust between the WRs, TEs and VY. Neither seems to believe the other is going to do their job, VY isn't sure where his receivers are going to be or if they will catch it if they are in the right spot. The receivers don't seem to believe that VY will get them the ball if they are open or that he will even run the play he's supposed run. He has on more than one occasion run whatever play he felt like, the hell with the other 10 guys. Kevin Mawae said at the end of last season, VY needed to take his job seriously and prepare for games like he was a pro; he can't just go out there and expect his athletic ability and improvisational skills, his legs, to bail him out of trouble. He's not a Longhorn anymore, not in the Big 12, he's not the best athlete on the field, he has to use his brain and that ain't VY's strength.
Titans' fans need to realize that VY doesn't have to be great, the defense and special teams do, as long as they can score 14-20 points a game they should be alright. They will run into problems if one of these guys gets hurt: Kyle VandenBosch, Albert Haynesworth, Rob Bironas. If one of them is down for more than a game the Titans can't beat anyone.

1) that picture is perfect, looks like he is pinpointing right where he needs to be

2) STOP doggin on VY dammit. all teams got growing pains. i think he needs some breathing roon & the press to stop beatin down his back (like they do my QB) know what i mean ~ jelly bean?

They're not, he hasn't received that much criticism in his three years here. They didn't crucify him when he refused to answer questions after he lost games as a rookie. It wasn't just the Indy game, it was several others. They didn't rip him when the pictures of him dancing shirtless and shooting Patron came out. Imagine those were pictures of McNabb, Eli Manning, Rex Grossman. The media in those towns would never let them forget.
Part of the problem is
Bud Adams anointed him as the savior of the franchise saying, "VY is my guy" when he was drafted and people have expected big things out of him since he left Texas. He was Rookie of the Year, got the Titans into the playoffs last year. People are expecting him to take the next step the way McNair did and it doesn't seem like he is. Fans also realize just how good this team could truly be if he was an accurate passer and if he had a true #1 WR to throw to. Unfortunately, the Titans (Field Goal Fisher especially) don't believe a #1 WR is necessary, and they have never had that #1 guy here in Tennessee.
