Madden continues to have his Lord Favre mancrush

John Madden has always been a big Brett Favre fan, some would argue that he is the president of his fan club, with Peter King as the VP. But in this interview with Bob Wolfley of the Milwaukee Sentinel-Journal, he takes his mancrush to new levels. A couple of prime excepts from the story.

First Madden said he was surprised by the whole episode and is still scratching his head about Favre’s departure from Green Bay.

“I was really surprised the way this whole thing came down,” Madden said. “I was surprised first of all when he retired. He always told me that as long as he was healthy and he had a chance to win, he’d keep playing. Obviously he was healthy and they were in the championship game, so they had a good team.
Michael Vick was in the championship game just a few years ago; and the Falcons haven't sniffed the playoffs since. Just because the Pack was there last year doesn't mean they will be back. They were 13-3 last year and like every team, they were one injury or 10 plays from 7-9 or worse.

“I was more surprised when he retired than I was when he said he wanted to come back, because I never thought he’d retire,” Madden said. “Then I was also surprised that they couldn’t work something out there in Green Bay.”
Madden said the essence of issue was clear to him. Who would you rather have, Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre as your quarterback or Aaron Rodgers and two rookies?” Madden said. “That to me would be easy. I mean I would [have] worked something out to keep him there."

No kidding John, but the Packers got tired of Lord Favre changing his mind more than a high school girl trying to pick out what earrings to wear with this killer outfit she just got.
