If anyone thought Al Davis has no idea what is going on with his Raiders, like you Lane Kiffin who probably destroyed any chance of getting an NFL job with your ridiculous interview with Trey Wingo, read the following exchange with Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News.Davis lets loose with with some classics and he starts with Lane Kiffin saying; "He conned me like he conned all you people" Also that Kiffin didn't want to take QB JaMarcus Russell; "There were several. Every day it was different, that’s the thing. He didn’t want Russell. At one time he wanted Brady Quinn. At one time Calvin Johnson. At one time to trade it."
He also talks about the Randy Moss trade; saying that the coaches in Oakland and Green Bay GM Ted Thompson were convinced that Moss couldn't run anymore, but it was Belichick's old
friend Mike Lombardi, and at the time a Raiders executive, who convinced the Pats to take Moss.
He has few nice things to say about Lombardi who has never missed a chance to bad-mouth Davis whenever he has the chance. Regarding Lombardi, a former Raiders exec who sued the team after he was fired in order to get a buyout of a contract that he didn’t have and who is now teeing off on Davis whenever he can, Davis said; “Mike Lombardi has been fired from every job he’s had,” Davis said. “Every job. He can’t get a job. Last year he was fired from a job he was working for for nothing. He was fired from Denver.”
Speaking of Denver he also has this to say about Mike Shanahan, a guy he fired and was fired in Denver because of a fight with Dan Reeves. Said Davis; "When Shanahan left me, he went to Denver. He was there for about four or five years as an assistant and they fired him for insubordination. Dan Reeves and he had a big battle. He went to the 49ers and he learned their style of football and when Dan Reeves failed in Denver, the first guy they had was Wade Phillips, I think… then he brought Shanahan back. And Shanahan had success. But Shanahan has an asterisk next to those two Super Bowls, because they were caught cheating."
Davis still has an idea of what is happening with his team and clearly knew that Lane Kiffin wasn't an NFL coach. After watching both press conferences, it was Davis, not Kiffin who sounded like the more coherent one and the one who understood the situation. And after hearing Kiffin say that he didn't want to argue with someone who wasn't around that much, Davis, he has spoiled any chance of getting back into NFL coaching. Good luck in college Lane, it's clearly where you belong.

I remember Bob Kraft saying that he had to look him in the eye and all that. They went down and worked him out, he could run. He’s their team, of course, with the quarterback.

-DAVIS: No. No, I’ve got to one or two other things. I mentioned some other things, Jerry, that are coming up here. Possibly a work stoppage. Possible an uncapped year in 2010. We have to prepare for that.

But he will own it some day. That is… if they let me go to my maker. -Q: You said to somebody that you wanted to win two more Super Bowls and then retire…

-DAVIS: Other than the quadriceps and a little trouble with the walking, based on total balance, I’m fine. I’m healthy. You’re going to have to have me around for a while.
I’m fine, really. I take all the tests four times a year. I get a check up on everything, echo and all those things. All the blood work, I do that four times a year.
My mother, you know, she lived a long time, 103. I hope nothing happens. Because disease is the one thing, boy I tell you, it’s tough to lick. It’s tough to lick those goddamn diseases. I don’t know why they can’t.

Excellent points. People keep saying; "Who wants that job?" "That job is a career killer" etc. No it's not, it;'s killed the careers of lousy coaches(Bill Callahan, Art Shell), it hasn't of good (Jon Gruden) or even decent(Norv Turner) coaches. Look you moronic sock puppets, it's one of only 32 around, there are plenty of guys who will take it.

With NFL coaches and owners you are dealing the most dangerous of mixtures; ego, money and testosterone.
I don't think Kiffin realizes who he is dealing with, Davis may be old and in lousy physical health but he loves nothing better than a fight; Kiffin's interview with Wingo gave Al even more reason to go after him.
As for the team, this will make them better for awhile, it always does.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is declining comment on a tampering accusation leveled against his team by Raiders owner Al Davis.
Belichick was asked Wednesday about Davis' statement and said that the Patriots are concentrating on Sunday's game against the 49ers in San Francisco. New England wide receiver Randy Moss also declined comment Wednesday.
Davis said Tuesday that the Patriots tampered with Moss before they obtained him from Oakland in a trade during last year's NFL draft. Davis made the statement after a news conference in which he announced the firing of his coach, Lane Kiffin.
Tampering is like porn, no one can define it but we know it when we see it. It's also something all teams and agents do and not really worth worrying about.
