D-Mac wants to talk about the future

No matter what fans think of Donovan McNabb as a QB, the one thing he's not is dumb. He may make bad decisions on the field or in the press room but he still gets it. He knows he has to accept the good with the bad of being a franchise QB. Only a few others have seen the good adn the bad that D-Mac has seen in Philly, John Elway, Phil Simms, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning have all had to deal with the expectaions of being great, living up to them and having to deal with the fans and media when they haven't been great. Now Donovan is taking a pro-active approach to his future in Philly. He is asking the Eagles front-office to sit down with him and discuss his future in Philly. It has been widely speculated, almost accepted, that this is his last year as the Eagles QB and now it seems McNabb wants to know if he is on the trading block, if they are going to release him. The speculation about his future was kicked in high gear after his comments to NFLN after the Eagles win over the Cardinals on Thanksgiving night.

Asked by analyst Warren Sapp about the meeting he had with Reid after being benched against the Baltimore Ravens Nov. 23, McNabb was much more forthcoming.
"We just kind of aired some things out,'' said McNabb, whose contract that runs through 2010, but none of the remaining money is guaranteed. "I didn't get to what I wanted to talk about, but we will have that conversation with Andy as well as some other people in the organization. I think it is very important. I've been here 10 years and a conversation is needed.''
A conversation about what, exactly?
"That's going to be something we'll talk about behind closed doors,'' he said.

Then yesterday he had this to say about talks with the Eagles front-office:

"We'll discuss that when the times comes,'' McNabb said. "At this particular point it's really important for us to focus on who are playing and that is the Giants (Sunday). The conversation will happen. It will be at the end of the season."

I am one who is glad that Donovan is bringing it up and asking for some sort of answer from the team. Could he have waitied until after the season so some wouldn't criticize him for being a distraction? Sure. But if there is one thing that Donovan knows, it's that the Eagles will do what's best for the Eagles and not the for the player, even Donovan McNabb. So the only one who will take care of him is himself and that's what he's doing.

Quotes are from the Trenton Times.

It's taken the Titans almost 10 years to replace Runyan. Now that they have Roos and Stewart they finally have a couple guys with Runyan's attitude.
Got any pics of his bikes?
