I agree with Nick Saban

Nick Saban was asked about the decision of Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville to resign yesterday. I figured Saban would give the usual coachspeak about how good it was to compete against Tuberville and how he'll be missed in the SEC. But instead of theose and other usual tired answers, Saban went and spelled the reality of coaching in the SEC and in college football in general.

“I guess we’re 5-7 away from the same thing,” Saban said, referring to Tuberville’s record this season.

Saban began by addressing the situations regarding Tennessee’s Phil Fulmer and Mississippi State’s Sylvester Croom, who both lost their jobs this season. He said that they were being judged incompletely.

“Those guys are really good coaches, and they’ve done a good job for a long time and have a tremendous body of work,” Saban said. “I really question some of the judgment relative to how it is for our game that people with those kind of relationships and done that kind of job and affected so many people in a positive way and have had a reasonable amount of success relative to their circumstances would not be given more respect and consideration than what these guys have been given.”
After being asked if his success at Alabama had contributed to Tuberville’s demise, Saban raised his eyebrows in disbelief during his answer, and he paused once for a few seconds to search for the right words.

“When you see a program start to lose toughness or discipline, that’s one thing,” Saban said. “That’s not the case. It wasn’t the case at Tennessee, and it wasn’t the case at Mississippi State. It wasn’t the case anywhere.”
In closing on the topic, Saban took a mild shot at the news media for building up programs beyond reasonable expectations.
“There eventually gets to be an expectation that no one is ever satisfied,” he said.

It's his last statement that summarizes coaching.
