Someone wants Michael Vick

When convicted felon Michael Vick gets out of jail next summer, what will he do? Among his options are a return to the NFL, probably 50-50, head right into has-beenville by becoming a reality-tv star, or play football in another league. I don't see him in the Arena League although his skills might be well-suited for that league, the CFL won't take him, they don't accept convicted felons in their league. His final and probably best option in the new United Football League, a six-team league starting in fall 2009.

According to Michael Huyghue, commissioner of the United Football League(and former agent to Pacman Jones) that is set to launch next fall, the answer is yes.

"I do think he would be the type of player that would be a great player for this league," Huyghue told the Daily News, echoing remarks he made to Sports Illustrated in August. "I still continue to believe that we might prove to be the best type of buffer for a player like Michael Vick before he returns to the NFL. Obviously there are some things that would have to happen. No one has a crystal ball. Presumably he would still be suspended."

Huyghue is fully aware of the possible backlash from entertaining the idea of giving Vick a second chance.
"We've received fan letters and e-mails already saying, 'What are you guys, nuts?' He would have to be evaluated like all players and clearly he presents more risk," said Huyghue. "You have to weigh the risk of bringing a player like that into the league versus not. A club would have to make that determination. I think it's safe to assume at some point he'll return to professional football. We are a country of forgiveness."

The UFL bills itself as a new professional outdoor fall football league that will feature high quality traditional football played by world-class athletes. It was created to meet the unmet needs of football fans in major markets currently underserved by professional football. Serving communities with pride and passion, the UFL will provide fans with affordable, innovative and entertaining game-day experiences. Wow, that's quite a statement, especially for a league that has yet to announce which six cities will have UFL teams and the names of those teams. The potential cities as of December 08 are; Hartford, Orlando, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, New York, Monterrey, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

I still think he has a strong shot of getting back in the NFL. He commited a crime and did his time. No one has to like it but still what he did was not detrimental to the sport unlike what the ref did for basketball. As long as his faces stay on the front pagfes of blogs, newspapers and several other places he will land somewhere that wants the media circus as well as higher than avg talent.
Really what does he do all day now other than life and run from other felons? So you know he is in shape

I am one who hopes he never sees an NFL sideline/field again. I wish him no harm but he's way too much trouble for the limited talent would bring to any NFL team. I won't be one who protests him being back in the league but I'll sure be one who reminds people of the awful, inhumane and heinous crimes he committed.
