One of Vince Young's biggest supporters has always been Texas coach Mack Brown. Brown stuck with Young after a terrible game against OU his sophomore year. At the start of Young's junior year, Brown and the Texas offensive coaching staff turned the offense over to Young and let "Vince be Vince". That decision turned out to be one of, if not the best one that Brown ever made. Young led the Longhorns to the national championship. Brown has spoken up for his former QB.
Brown appeared on "THE DRIVE ON FOX' this week and talked about Titans quarterback Vince Young,
Here's what he said to one of the host, Chris Myers,
CHRIS MYERS: "When you heard the news (about Vince Young) from Tennessee, what was your reaction?"
MACK BROWN: "Well, the first thing that I thought, Chris, before I talked to him is that he's very high strung. He's got a tremendous amount of pride. He's competitive and we want our guys to be aggressive. We want our guys to be emotional on the good days, but we don't want them to be emotional on the bad days and here's a young guy - he goes to the Pro Bowl as a Rookie. He won a national championship. He gets booed. He has a bad day and hurts his knee and he goes home and he's not sure how bad the knee is and he called me immediately and said I'm ok. The problem was that he wanted to be alone. He wanted to get away and think about what was going on around him so that he could get some things fixed in his mind. He'll be fine. His darkest day's here - were turned into really positive days and that's what he'll do at Tennessee and I've seen him do that, but he is emotional, and he does get down. The thing that people will appreciate is how competitive he is and how fast he fights to get back.
"CHRIS MYERS: "Any question in your mind his passion for playing football, for staying in it?
"MACK BROWN: "None. Shoot, there's days I'd like to quit! You ask me after we get our tail beat really badly on the way I'm walking off the field I'm asking Billy Lilly or Sally, 'What am I doing? This is crazy!'. I'm not gonna ask you to say it, but there's days you'd quit the radio/tv business too!"
CHRIS MYERS: "...What were your final words or advice to Vince?"
MACK BROWN: "His darkest day was the Missouri game here, where he completed about 3 or 4 passes to us and 3 or 4 to them and it wasn't good with the fans and we weren't playing well and he got hurt a little bit. We took him out of the game and that was his darkest day and we told him that you've got to pick it up and play better or we're gonna have to do something else and he won 30 straight games. He never lost another game, so that's what I see him doing here. When he gets well and, Kerry Collins is a great quarterback - they've got Chris Simms in now. Even if it's not at Tennessesse, I still am standing strong by my statement that I believe Vince Young will win a Superbowl and he'll be in the Pro Hall of Fame before he finishes.

NOW that's what i'm talkin about, great great great read! i'm glad someone else is in favor of this man......tired of ppl. calling him whiney, overpaid, blah blah
At least one coach has, Fisher hasn't.
Fisher is pissed @ his own inability to bring this kid back to good!! give it time ~
Maybe. I think Fisher knows how good this team can be but Young wasn't ready to take this team to that level. Time will tell if Collins can.
