Eagles exec takes a couple shots at Cowboys

Although many, many fans and a few journalists/columnists are happy to see the Cowboys having problems are are openly taking shots at them, other NFL teams are keeping quiet about the situation in Dallas. Whether they agree or disagree with what the Cowboys with the Roy Williams trade or the Pacman trade, they aren't saying much about either one. Which is what makes the comments of Eagles president Joe Banner not earth-shattering, but interesting.
Here's what he had to say on the Eagles website:
Eagles president Joe Banner had a few things to say about the Cowboys and their acquiring of Roy Williams. "I mean, they paid a lot,'' said Banner, "Time will tell. I wouldn't pay that much for a player like that.''
No doubt; I agree the Cowboys paid too much for the guy when they had more pressing needs than WR.
Ummm....Joe, your memory must be failing you.
Let's go back to 2004, the Eagles had lost another NFC title game and it was obvious that they needed help at the WR position so what do they do? With Banner leading the charge(thanks to the Eagles official website for that one) they get right in the middle of the TO fiasco, helping him out of his trade to the Ravens by agreeing to send a player to the Niners and a pick to the Ravens. Yup, you did pay less but you also got little sympathy from other execs when TO did what TO does because you had to have him no matter what it did to your QB and the locker room. Good thing you had Todd "Stinkson" Pinkston and Freddie Mitchell to fall back on when things went bad with TO.
While addressing the team's approach to improving the roster, the Birds' president took yet another swipe at the Cowboys.
"Our goal is to win a Super Bowl, forget win a playoff game, which is something they are still working on,'' Banner said.
Yes, you have won more playoff games than the Cowboys since '96 with a 9-8 record and you led the Eagles to 4 straight NFC Championship Games and a 1-3 record in them, and you almost beat the Patriots in Super Bowl, you still haven't won the whole thing since 1960, when you were six. Facts are sticky things Joe and despite the success you have had the past 10 almost 15 years, it's Super Bowls that matter and the Eagles still have zero.
I could care less if you want to criticize a team for what they are doing, but don't forget about the mistakes you've made and problems you've created in your desire to win a Super Bowl. Because in the contest of Lombardi Trophies everyone else in the NFC East has at least two more than the Eagles do.

Yeah I do. I figured you wouldn't get all pissy about it.
I didn't write this in the article but I don't think he or anyone else in the Eagles organization knew the trouble TO would cause when he got there and the damage he would leave on his way out.
I can honestly say the damage to the Cowboys will be much worse when they are rid of him .
